Caritas Certificate Skill Programme in Minimal Access Gynaec Surgery (CCPMAGS)
Program Overview
The Certificate Programme in MAGS envisages to impart comprehensive clinical clinical skill updation in vaginal, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries.
Objectives :
- To provide advanced training in Gynaec surgeries.
- To develop expertise in managing patient with uterine and ovarian diseases.
Curriculum Structure
The programme typically spans over one year and is divided to several postings.
Clinical Areas:
- Gynaecology OPD.
- Gynaec Ultrasonography.
- OP Procedures.
- Gynaec post operative ward.
- Gynaec Endoscopy theatre(Laparoscopyand Hysteroscopy)
Curriculum:
- PART 1: General Preoperative,Intraoperative and Postoperative Challenges
- PART 2: Operations and Challenges
Teaching Methods:
- Lectures

- Hands– on training in procedures
Core Competencies
The candidate should acquire the following competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of Gynaecanatomy and reproductive physiology and clinical manifestations of Gynaec disorders.
- Skills in doing and interpreting transvaginals can and explaining various Gynaec Ultra sound images.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and managing all Uterine Tubal and Ovarian Pathologies.
- Exposure and assisting skills in
- All Gynaec Laparoscopic surgeries.
- Hysteroscopic surgeries.
- Managing complications.
- Diagnosis and management of postoperative complications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Evaluation
Candidate will be evaluated through a combination of:
- Clinical evaluation by course director.
- Log book
- Publications
Additional Considerations
- Inter professional collaboration:Foster collaboration with other health care professionals (eg: General laparoscopic surgeon, Onco surgeon and Plastic surgeon).
- Quality improvement:Encourage participation in quality improvement initiatives.
- Patient education:Emphasize the importance of patient education and counselling.
- Ethics:Address ethical issues in Gynaec practice.
- Simulations based learning : Incorporate simulation for professiona lskills and crisis management.
By following this curriculum and emphasizing core competencies, the certificate programme will produce wall rounded Gynaecologist capable of providing excellent patient care and contributing to the field of minimal access Gynaec surgery.
