In collaboration with the Government of Kerala and the Kerala Police, Caritas Hospital & Institute of Health Sciences successfully hosted the Operation Toofan – Central Travancore Regional Launch.
The inaugural ceremony, held at the Caritas Auditorium, was officially inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Chennithala, Hon'ble Minister for Home & Vigilance, Government of Kerala. The event was presided over by H.E. Mar Joseph Pandarasseril, Chairman of Caritas Hospital and Auxiliary Bishop of Kottayam.
As part of Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt, Kerala's largest anti-drug campaign, the Programme reinforced the collective commitment towards building a drug-free society. The event brought together government representatives, senior police officials, and leaders from the healthcare and education sectors, who emphasized the importance of drug abuse prevention, institutional responsibility, youth participation, and community-driven action in combating substance abuse.
During the programme, participants took the Toofan Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the fight against drugs. Three key initiatives—SHIELD – HR Policy, Health Commission, and Teachers Guild—were also officially launched to strengthen anti-drug awareness and prevention efforts.
The event was attended by Adv. Mons Joseph, Hon'ble Minister for Water Resources & Housing; shri. Ravada A. Chandrasekhar, IPS, State Police Chief, Kerala; Shri. Yathish Chandra G. H., IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ernakulam Range; Shri Nattakom Suresh, MLA, Ettumanoor Constituency; Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director & CEO, Caritas Hospital; Shri Sabu Mathew K. M., District Police Chief (SP), Kottayam, along with Joint Directors & staff members of Caritas Hospital.
The Operation Toofan – Central Travancore Regional Launch stood as a strong symbol of collective resolve to intensify awareness, prevention, and community participation in the fight against drug abuse, reaffirming a shared commitment towards a healthier, safer, and drug-free Kerala.
