The EMPACK (Emergency Medicine, Medico-Legal and Psychiatry Advanced Course By Caritas For Kerala Police) training program, designed to provide expert training in emergency medical care, medico-legal aspects, and mental health management for Kerala Police officers, was inaugurated at Caritas Hospital, Kottayam. The program is specially focused on officers of the Kottayam Police. The event was inaugurated by Kottayam District Police Chief (SP) Shri Shahul Hameed IPS.
Dr. Vivek R., Senior Consultant and Head of the Emergency Medicine Department at Caritas Hospital, delivered the welcome address. The function was presided over by Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director and CEO of Caritas Hospital, and Medical Director Dr. Bobbie N. Abraham extended his felicitations. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Ajith Venugopalan, COO of Caritas Hospital and Group Head of EM & TC. Rev. Fr. Joice Nandikunnel (Joint Director, Operations), Dr. Jose Jom Thomas (Senior Specialist - Community Medicine), Other dignitaries from the hospital also attended the ceremony.
The program featured expert sessions on Emergency life saving skills, Decoding forensic medicines and medico legalities, and Coping with Stress and Building Resilience, equipping participants with essential skills to serve and save lives. With the guidance of distinguished faculty and active participation of officers, the program concluded on a highly impactful note, reinforcing the message – “Courage to serve, Skills to save".
