A New Era in Precision Cancer Care Begins: Kerala’s First Hospital-Based Advanced Genomics Lab Inaugurated at Caritas

Marking a new beginning in cancer treatment, Kerala’s first hospital-based Advanced Genomics Laboratory was inaugurated at Caritas Hospital. This state-of-the-art laboratory has been established in collaboration with the leading genomics technology company, 4baseCare.

At the press conference held in connection with the inauguration, Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director and CEO of Caritas Hospital, dr. Boben Thomas, Senior Consultant – Medical Oncology, and Mr. Praveen Jha, VP – Commercial Operations, 4baseCare, were present.

Following this, during the function held at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Rev. Fr. Joice Nandikunnel, Joint Director (Operations) of Caritas Hospital, officially inaugurated the laboratory by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Boban Thomas delivered the welcome address and Mr. Praveen offered his felicitations.

In the CME session that followed, Dr. Unni S. Pillai, Senior Consultant – Medical Oncology, spoke on the topic ‘The Importance of Genomics in Cancer Care’, and Dr. Vidya H. VP – Clinical Operations, discussed ‘New Technologies in Genomics.’ A panel discussion led by Dr. Thomas Babu, Consultant – Medical Oncology, featured experts from the field sharing their experiences. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Jose Tom, Senior Consultant – Radiation Oncology. Other leading doctors from the Oncology department also attended the event.
