Caritas DNB Programme

DNB (Diplomate of National Board) is the degree awarded to modern medicine doctors by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) on successful completion of prescribed training and examination. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) was set up by Government of India in 1975 as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The main objective of NBE was to conduct post graduate and post-doctoral courses of high and uniform national standards in various medical and allied specialities and super specialities. Selection for DNB is from merit rank list, prepared based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

NBE gives accreditation to hospitals fulfilling stringent requirements of infrastructure, department facilities, qualification and experience of consultants after detailed inspection by assessors appointed by NBE. DNB can also be conducted in Medical Colleges recognized by Medical Council of India.

 

Eligibility and Application

Candidates having MBBS degree can apply for 3-year DNB course in any of the medical or surgical specialities.

Candidates having MD/MS degree can apply for the 3-year DNB course in concerned super speciality.

The corresponding DNB degree awarded is equivalent to MD/MS degree or DM/MCh degree awarded by any Indian University for all practical purposes including appointment for teaching posts in Medical Colleges.

 

Caritas DNB Programme

In Caritas Hospital, accreditation was obtained to start DNB course in the Departments of General Surgery and Radiotherapy from January 2018 session onwards with 2 seats each per session.

We also obtained accreditation to start DNB in General Medicine with effect from January 2020 session for 2 seats.

Caritas recently obtained accreditation to start DNB in Anaesthesia with effect from June 2020 session for 2 primary and 1 post diploma seats.

Convenient accommodation is given to the selected candidates in the campus. They are also given stipend at par with that given to MD/MS candidates in Government Medical Colleges in Kerala.
