This school stands ahead in all its training Nurses to Health care services.  The School is proud of having facilitated numerous families to migrate abroad through its training of qualified Nurses in its entire deep-rooted long time stand from 1965 in health care. It trains and gives out every year 50 Nurses for the service of the sick.

Having  received  the mandate from Lord Jesus, the Devine Healer and inspired by his compassionate love Caritas School of Nursing enviasages a just peaceful and healthy society where people especially the poor and downtrodden receive  holistic nursing care . It also aims at providing quality vocational training, in the noblest of professions, girls, especially those from families within Kottayam diocese.  

 MISSION The mission is  to prepare professionals,to give comprehensive nursing care to the Sick and the needy,solely for charitable and philanthropic purposes and not for any purposes of profit.

PHILOSOPHY The philosophy of  the school of nursing  is in accordance with the philosophy of Caritas Hospital.

The faculty of  the school of nursing believe that the basic course in nursing is a formal educational preparation which should be based on educational principles.

We recognize it as the foundation on which the practice of nursing is built and on which  further professional education depends .

  • We believe that the students after their professional education as a nurse acquire all requirements for fulfillment of their needs, personality development and character formation.

  • We believe that we have responsibility to the student and to society, to make provision  in the programme for the  continued development of the student as an individual, a citizen as well as a nurse. 

     

     OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTION

    • To provide professional nursing education to aspiring young women in Christian spirit of love and service.

    • To help them attain knowledge skills and attitude to deliver comprehensive health care to those in their service using nursing process approach.

    • To equip them to participate as a contributing and efficient member of health team in the hospital, community and other health care delivery settings.

    • To render basic skills in health teaching administration, leadership and research activities.

    • To help them acquire and demonstrate ethical values in the personal and professional life and to be a better person.

    Be accountable and responsible to the patients entrusted to her, her colleagues, the health care team and the philosophy of the parent institution.

     ·       Hold in confidence all the information disseminated to her, during her period of work and use discrimination in sharing it.

           Abstain from any action that can potentially bring harm to patients under her care.

         Be truthful to self, patients, co-workers and the community at large

           Provide holistic care to the sick and needy irrespective of color, caste, creed, religion, gender and socio-economic status.

  •   A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION Caritas School of nursing was founded in the year 1965 by Late  Bishop Mar Thomas Tharayil. The school is managed by Caritas Hospital Trust. The head of the instituion is the Metropolitan Arch Bishop of Kottayam Diocese. Caritas Hospital is the parent Instituion of the school which is owned and run by the Arch Diocese of  Kottayam.This 510 bedded hospital provide multi specialty and super specialty services. The school and the hospital along with the help of well qualified staff  provide excellent academic facilities and clinical experience. The School  provides 3  ½  year GNM course with a strength of 50 students  in each  batch. The school is duly recognized by the Kerala Nursing council  and the Indian Nursing Council.
